ABPW In The News - Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake promotes domestic violence awareness

Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake is doing their part to help foster awareness of the growing number of domestic violence victims nationwide. During 2012, a portion of service fees from each home that Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake cleans was donated to the Ms. Molly Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to local domestic violence shelters and organizations.
“Nearly one in four women is affected by domestic violence, and all too often, these women are forced to leave their homes and relocate with none of their belongings,” said Renu Bonner, owner of Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake. “Giving back to the communities we service is a core belief of Molly Maid, and we know the need for shelters, counseling, and rebuilding these victims’ lives continues to grow.”
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately 1.3 million women are physically assaulted by an intimate partner annually in the United States.
Through the Making a Difference Drive, during the month of October 2012, Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake collected donations from its loyal customers. Personal care items, canned food, clothes and monetary donations were collected and passed to Bay Area Turning Point, the domestic violence shelter sponsored during the Making a Difference Drive.
In addition to this, Molly Maid of Greater Clear Lake also presented two checks to Bay Area Turning Point, earlier this January, for a total amount of $2,600.00.
This year, Molly Maid hopes to raise over $300,000 in goods and monetary contributions during the year and specifically during October, which is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With more than 450 Molly Maid franchises across the nation, Molly Maid President Meg Roberts believes that the company can reach their goal.
“Community organizations need our help now more than ever,” said Roberts. “Our customers continue to show outstanding generosity during the Make a Difference Drive, and I believe that this year’s drive will be even more successful than the last.”
The Ms. Molly Foundation raised a record-setting $240,192 in 2012, which was distributed to 140 shelters across the country. Since its inception in 1996, the Foundation has raised more than $1.44 million for local domestic violence shelters throughout the United States and Canada.
Molly Maid, a leading residential cleaning service franchise with more than 5,000 signature navy-and-pink cars on the road, finished 2012 with over eight percent increase in sales over the previous year and was featured on A&E’s new show Be the Boss.
